Ecofriendly Inhibitor to Mitigate the Corrosion of Metals and Alloys

The present webinar, entitled “Eco-friendly inhibitor to mitigate the corrosion of metals and alloys”, aims to develop the eco-friendly inhibitors, application and discussion about the mitigation of the corrosion occurring in the steel, petroleum, chemical and construction industries. Corrosion is a worldwide problem, and it is an imperative issue which need to be resolved by recent research, development and innovation. Therefore, this webinar is related to solving the corrosion problem using an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor by discussing from ground level, state of arts to advancement.

This webinar is being hosted by MDPI’s Molecules in collaboration with DuraBI center at Hanyang University, ERICA campus, South Korea. This webinar intends to become a global forum for researchers and engineers to present and discuss their recent innovations in the development of eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor and application. We hope that each one of you will find the webinar informative, rewarding and enriching.

Dr. Singh was born in Varanasi, India, and received his Ph.D. from Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur-Howrah, West Bengal, India, in 2017. He worked as a project associate in the Corrosion and Surface Engineering division, CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, India, from April 2009 to October 2014, and as a researcher at the Department of Architectural Engineering, ERICA campus, Hanyang University, South Korea, from August 2015 to February 2019. At present, he is working as a research assistant professor in the Department of Architectural Engineering, ERICA campus, Hanyang University, South Korea. His research interests include synthesis of nanocomposite coating, dual metal/polymer coating, thermal spray technology, hot-dip galvanizing, corrosion, inhibitor, electrochemistry, synthesis of novel materials for corrosion protection of metals and alloys, conservation of metallic artefacts, concrete, fabrication and durability performance of sensor and semi-conductor, advanced materials, processes to reduce the porosity of coating, energy storage materials, and phase change materials.

HAN-SEUNG LEE was born in South Korea on November 12,1964. He received his PhD from University of Tokyo, Japan. He has been a professor at Hanyang University, Ansan, South Korea, since 1998. His research interests include building materials, sustainable construction, admixtures for durable concrete, fly ash concrete, corrosion monitoring sensors and corrosion protection in concrete structure, etc.

Professor Suman Lata, has a rural background, as she completed her Matric (Schooling) at Bhiwani Board of School Education, Village, Akehri MadanPur, Jhhajjar, Haryana, with Scholarships at District level (Nahar block topper), and topped off her School in 8th and 10th standards too. Her Graduation (B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, Maths) in 1986 from M.D.U. Rohtak (University College), Haryana, M. Sc. (Chemistry with Physical chemistry specialization, in 1989 from M.D.U. Rohtak, and BEd in 1987 from M.D.U. Rohtak Haryana. She completed her MPhil in 1993 (Excess Thermodynamic functions of binary solutions of non-electrolytes) at the Chemistry department, M.D.U. Rohtak, thereafter, was awarded a PhD in January 2003 with the title “Corrosion controlling compounds for steel in sea water medium”, in the field of Electrochemistry, from M.D.U. Rohtak. She has worked as a lecturer in chemistry at Hindu Girls College, Sonipat, from 1998 to 2010, and from Nov. 2010, has been an Associate Professor (Physical Chemistry) in the department of Chemistry, at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, (DCRUST), Murthal, Sonipat, Haryana, India, and presently working as a Professor there. During her lecturership, she also completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications through Correspondence in 2006, from K.U., Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. She has been to Canada, Spain, and Portugal, in various academic pursuits. Six students have completed their Doctorate degree and seven more are pursuing under her supervision in corrosion control, wastewater management, supercapacitors and biosensors. She has also guided four M. Phil students. She has around 15 research paper presentations in various conferences at national and international levels, and around 40 research publications, one book chapter and one Patent filed in the field of Corrosion.

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Southwest Petroleum University, China

Dr. Ambrish Singh is working as a Professor in the School of New Energy and Materials, Southwest Petroleum University, China. He is leading the Corrosion Research Group (CRG) with master students, Ph.D. students, and post doc researchers. His research interests are mainly focused on corrosion, electrochemistry, green chemistry, quantum chemistry, smart coatings, polymers, nano-materials, composites, and petroleum engineering. He got the prestigious Sichuan 1000 Talent Award from the Sichuan government, China for his outstanding research contributions as a faculty. He got the President’s Award for exceptional post-doctoral research work. He also received the Young Scientist Award from UPCST, Lucknow, India. Before moving to China, Dr. Singh worked as Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, India.

Dr. Hassane Lgaz is a research professor at Hanyang University-ERICA, Ansan, South Korea. Dr. Lgaz obtained his PhD in physical chemistry in 2017 at the Department of Chemistry, Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra, Morocco. His research focuses on developing corrosion inhibitors for the oil well acidizing environment and construction and modeling corrosion inhibition processes by computational chemistry methods. He is the author of more than 136 articles and 4 book chapters; his work has been cited more than 2955 times, with an h-index of 30 according to the Web of Science database. He is classified among the top 3 researchers globally in corrosion inhibition for the last 5 years.

On Friday 17 September 2021, MDPI and the Journal Molecules organized the 17th webinar, entitled " Ecofriendly Inhibitor to Mitigate the Corrosion of Metals and Alloys".

The introduction was held by one of the Chairs of the webinar, Prof. Dr. Han-Seung Lee from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Hanyang University in South Korea. His research interests include building materials, sustainable construction, admixtures for durable concrete, fly ash concrete, corrosion monitoring sensors and corrosion protection in concrete structure, etc.

The first presentation was held by the second Chair, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Hanyang University in South Korea. His talk was on the effect of zwitterion to control the corrosion of steel rebar.
